Same with Midori for Bondi Blue. This has the unintended benefit of assisting with nibs that have a slight baby’s bottom. Over the past few months I've published four articles that were Overviews of each of these inks. ⠀ You're correct on both fronts. Tomoe is my first choice here. Moving on to sheen, one of the more important characteristics of Tomoe River paper, the NEW Tomoe River still shows a generous amount of sheen. Our Blog. On Rhodia, there was no bleed-through, and on Tomoe River, there was just a touch on my flex writing (which I think may have pierced the paper, as I was writing on a soft writing mat.) To my eye, the TR is noticeably different; it brings out shading and sheen that are not always visible, even on the Rhodia. ⠀✑⠀⠀⠀ The changes are not huge changes, however; the paper is still fountain pen friendly and high quality at that, but it’s lost some of the unique characteristics that make Tomoe River stand out for me. All three papers have great properties but I cannot recommend the Midori cotton paper enough. It’s possible not everyone liked, that, but I really enjoyed that characteristic. This occurs, mostly, as mentioned, when the ink pools and takes a while to dry, and not as much when the ink is thinner (such as the lighter part of a shaded written line or a lighter swatch). ⠀ Regarding how things look, the OLD Tomoe River also characteristically shows Halos rather prominently, these Halos are more tamed in the NEW Tomoe River. In my pictures, this is most notable with the Blue Suede: Rhodia sort of hints at some sheen, but Tomoe River shows it in nearly every character. Midori paper is a cream coloured paper with decent resistance to poor performing inks (a little better than Life paper) and resists feathering and bleeding. Make sure to check them out! The colour isn’t all that different in its presentation, for the most part. The sheen on the writing of Bungubox Omotesando Blue and Robert Oster Bondi Blue is on the more subtle side for Life paper. The Robert Oster Red Orange also shows stronger hints on the OLD. I wouldn't expect it to survive on a ring unless you reinforced the holes (which you can do with those little donut shaped stickers, or you could mount a small piece of Tomoè River paper to something sturdier like card stock.
